Meet Our Senior Pastor

Rodney S. Canion has been the Bishop & Senior Pastor of The Gospel Temple Church since 1996. He is a man of integrity, wisdom, vision and anointed by God to lead and serve God’s people. He is a preacher, teacher, singer, songwriter and musician. Bishop and Lady JoAnn N. Canion have been married since 1979, and have four productive adult children, Erika, Jantoya, Joshua, Shominique, along with eight grandchildren.

Bishop Canion is the visionary builder of The New Gospel Temple Church, constructed in 2008 in the Bronx, New York, a 4.2-million-dollar endeavor. He has served in various capacities of The Lord’s church, fourteen years on the COGIC Board of Bishops, Prelate of The Gospel Temple Fellowship and Vice-Bishop of The UCOD Ministries, along with other community initiatives and projects. In all these things and those things yet to come Bishop says, “To God Be The Glory For The Things HE Has Done” and allowed him to be a part of.
